Meet Ibeyi – Primavera SoundS

Daughters of Cuban percussionist Miguel Angá Díaz (Buenavista Social Club), the twins Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Díaz have done the impossible by reconnecting the traditional music of the Afro- American slaves to the 21st century.

Ibeyi links electronic music to Yoruba tradition, dubstep and traditional Nigerian chants, these French-Cuban twins made a name for themselves with “Oya”, an EP of “contemporary negro spirituals” in which soul of the 21st century reflected in the mirror of tradition to create new synthetic spiritual horizons. Signed to XL, the sisters are preparing their homonymous debut for 2015.
